St Lucia serves up a mix of multi-national music
St. Lucia is fast becoming a mecca for outstanding entertainment, next on the calendar is the Kalalu World Music Festival, serving up an exciting mix of authentic and eclectic music. This year’s event (6th – 9th December 2007) sponsored by Heineken, promises to give locals and visitors alike an unforgettable experience, featuring an impressive line-up of artists from around the world performing on the stunning shores of St. Lucia.Now in its third year, the four day festival will see the Island dancing to the energetic, uplifting and smooth rhythmic beats by some of the hottest stars form the world’s music scene, ranging from classic Haitian Conpa songs to traditional West African rhythms and funky Cuba Reggae.
The line up this year includes world renown Jamaican Reggae artist Gregory Isaacs, producer of numerous international hit singles, such as ‘Night Nurse’ and ‘My Only Lover’. Other artists showcasing their talents are Qbanito, the Canadian chart topping Latin R&B star and the Grammy nominated Orquesta Broadway.
South African legend, Vusi Mahlasela will also be performing while the infectious Soukous tunes of Soule Ngofo Man are not to be missed. And if that’s not enough, the Masquerade Portrayal will be performing St. Lucian folk dancing while established and emerging St. Lucian Soca talents will also be on hand to make sure the party never stops.
This year’s Kalalu Festival promises to be more stimulating than ever before. The exciting menu of Caribbean food coupled with an extensive display of regional and local artwork will make it a sensory experience like no other. The main stage is set on St. Lucia’s sunset coast at the island’s breathtaking Choc Bay beach, where music lovers can relax whilst soaking up the sun and sounds in this exotic and vibrant venue.
