Beowulf Anglo-Saxon experience in Suffolk

The climax of the enthralling evenings at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk will be a fire-lit performance from the Beowulf saga in the atmospheric setting of the Hall, recreating how the epic tale was first heard around 1,500 years ago.
Dr Sam Newton, the Beowulf and Anglo-Saxon expert, will begin by setting the scene with a fascinating talk, followed by a buffet meal. A short candlelit walk will then take guests to the Anglo-Saxon Hall where they will be greeted with a “Waes Hael” (good health) by a costumed character to the sounds of a traditional lyre. They can then sit back in the dancing firelight and enjoy Dr Newton’s masterful performance. This very special evening is sure to inform and delight
Tickets for An Introduction to the World of Beowulf are priced at £20 per person, including a welcome drink and buffet meal. Booking is essential. Both evenings are from 7 to 9.45pm.
