Bruges celebrates “sweet heritage” this winter

6th December 2007 Print
The concept of chocolate gastronomy could only have been thought up by the clever chefs in Belgium. Indeed the idea of combining chocolate into mainstream savoury dishes has been happening for years but now the city of Brugge is heavily promoting the concept in a specific campaign entitled Choc’ in Bruges from 20 Jan 2008 -13 March 2008.

Gastronomic concoctions such as marinated filet of duck on a coulis of mango, ginger and plain chocolate served with turnip, pumpkin and baby onions are the kind celebrated by ten Bruges restaurants who share a creative approach to chocolate!

And just when you think that the use of chocolate can’t get more innovative, try a range of chocolate inspired beauty products such as chocolate facemasks and a lavish choice of chocolate product massage treatments in a special programme of “chocolate wellness”.

The chocolate market is a new concept and on 9 and 10 February, Bruges will turn the spotlight on 48 of its chocolatiers in an especially dedicated chocolate market, perfectly timed for Valentines day. Bruges offers the complete chocoholic’s dream in its World Heritage City!
