Bermuda to host PGA Grand Slam for second year

The high-stakes tournament, which featured a US$1.35 million prize fund in 2007, will again be hosted by The Mid Ocean Club and The Fairmont Southampton from 14th – 15th October 2008.
The PGA Grand Slam of Golf concluded its 25th edition on 17th October 2007 at The Mid Ocean Club, Bermuda, won by U.S. Open Champion Angel Cabrera.
In 2008, the winners of the 2008 Masters, U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship will earn the right to compete on the 6,520-yard, par-70 layout that was designed by Charles Blair Macdonald in 1921, and modified in the 1950s by the late Robert Trent Jones Sr.
Travel packages to the high-profile tournament will be available with details to be announced in 2008.
“We’re delighted that the PGA Grand Slam of Golf is coming back to Bermuda,” said Dr. The Hon. Ewart F. Brown, J.P., M.P., The Premier of Bermuda. “Its first visit created a lot of excitement and produced an overwhelmingly positive impact on our tourism product. So we’re looking forward to doing it all over again and doing it even better than last time.”
The award-winning, Mid Ocean Club on the paradise island of Bermuda has hosted such heads of state as Presidents George H.W. Bush and Dwight Eisenhower; Winston Churchill and The Duke of Windsor.
The host hotel, The Fairmont Southampton, is one of the island’s most luxurious properties, boasting its own 18-hole championship course on-site, and the acclaimed Willow Stream Spa.
