Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards returns to Calgary
Twenty years ago Eddie “the Eagle” Edwards became everyone’s favourite Olympic hero when he dropped into the record books as Great Britain’s sole entrant in the 70 and 90 metre ski jump. Unfortunately he finished last in both events but forever became a winner in the heart of his fans across the world. On 13th February Eddie will return to Alberta to launch the celebrations at Canada Olympic Park, which are being organised by the Calgary Olympic Development Association (CODA). The two week celebration will include a retro1988 party with free skiing, entry to the Olympic Hall of Fame, a fireworks display, a snow sports demonstration, lighting of the Olympic cauldron and live music.
Commenting on his forthcoming trip Eddie said “I am really looking forward to returning to Calgary. This is where Eddie ‘the Eagle’ Edwards was born, so for me it will be like coming home!”
After attending and taking a leading role in the festivities, Eddie and his family will embark on a trip to the Rockies to enjoy the great ski conditions and to try some of Alberta’s other winter activities.
