Hoteliers enjoy pleasurable preview
The season starts here – Blackpool Pleasure Beach welcomed over 600 local hoteliers to a preview of what is in store at the UK’s favourite tourist attraction in 2008.Guests were given an opportunity to enjoy a very special showcase from the acts who will be putting on some fabulous shows at Pleasure Beach this season.
A presentation by Pleasure Beach saw members of staff and performers speak about the 2008 season. Phil McCandlish, Pleasure Beach’s Sales and Marketing Director, gave a speech outlining the parks marketing plans for the coming season.
Phil explained that marketing activity would be based around Infusion, the five looping rollercoaster which was installed at the park last year. In 2008 the Pleasure Beach message will be spread further afield in Manchester, Yorkshire and Scotland, with TV advertising appearing in Scotland prior to school holidays for the first time in a number of years. A new TV commercial for Hot Ice will also appear in the commercial breaks of the semi final and final of ITV’s hit Sunday evening show Dancing on Ice.
Phil ended his speech by speaking about Pleasure Beach’s £1/2 million investment in a brand new, state of the art Adventure Golf course which opened last week on Flagstaff Gardens. He explained that the official launch will take place later in the Spring and will host a British Mini Golf Association tournament, the first of its kind to take place in the North West.
The Drifters kicked off the entertainment showcasing of some of their finest songs including Saturday Night at the Movies and Sitting on the Back Row.
Next up were the incomparable Grumbleweeds whose mixture of witty banter and slapstick had the audience rolling in the aisles. Their unique style of humour, which is suitable for all the family, will bring smiles to the faces of young and old this season.
Bob Wooding, balloon artiste extraordinaire, showed off his amazing skills with inflatable objects. His show promises fun, prizes and lots of laughs, for children of all ages. The Puppet Party provides even more family entertainment. Be wowed by the antics of the cute, furry characters including a very special appearance from Britney Cheese.
The final act on stage was the fantastic Take That tribute band, Take That 2. They will be joined throughout the summer by the equally talented Spicey Girls, this is an unmissable show for those who love classic pop music.
