A busy summer for Bandstand fans

Eastbourne Borough Council are very excited to unveil the line-up for this year’s concert calendar, ready to build on 2007’s phenomenal success with an extended season beginning in May and continuing right through until the end of September. With a new style of leaflet for 2008, audiences can look forward to the return of popular formats including tribute acts, Sunday Night on the Proms, and Rock n Roll concerts.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said “The Bandstand entertainment programme for 2008 is very impressive. Last year the Abba, Queen and Grease Summer Nights tributes were incredibly popular with tickets selling out and I’m excited to see the new tribute acts we have for this year. I’m sure that the new bands performing, as well as the longer season, will mean that the Bandstand gains even more fans in 2008 as new audiences are tempted by the busy programme.”
Last year’s favourite, Abba Fever, kicks off the Friday Tribute Night season on 6 June and follows with the return of popular tribute artists including Elvis, Take That, and Queen. Celebrating their comeback, The Spice Girls are all new for 2008, alongside other new acts Dolly Parton and George Michael and Wham.
1812 Firework Nights burst back to fill the skies with dazzling displays on Wednesday 4 June, Sunday Night on the Proms returns with spectacular pyrotechnics and Concentus Chorale singers add a choral sound to an already diverse programme of events.
Eastbourne Bandstand continues its Military Band season this year with fans of military music in for a real treat as The Central Band of the Royal British Legion and Lewes, Glynde and Beddingham Brass Band fill the stage with traditional brass sounds.
The Bandstand reopens for 2008 on Easter Sunday with a traditional afternoon concert from Eastbourne Silver Band, with the summer concert season getting underway on 4 May.
The full concert programme is available now from the Tourist Information Centre. Alternatively download the programme from Visitbandstand.com.
