Winners welcome visitors to spring food fair

18th March 2008 Print
Visitors to Tastes of Lincolnshire's first food fair of 2008 will be treated to a delicious award-winning line up. On Saturday 29th March thirty-six producers, including nine gold award winners, will gather in Horncastle and offer visitors an excellent opportunity to buy Lincolnshire food.

Previous Spring food fairs have not seen the total number of producers as high. With delights including homemade fudges and chocolates, award winning cheeses, freshly baked breads, unusual fruit wines, distinctive locally brewed beers and unique tea blends visitors will sample the best of the county's delicacies.

“Eating local food and interested in our environment go hand in hand. Buy supporting local producers and eating seasonal foods the environment is better cared for with reduced food miles. And there is the added bonus of knowing exactly what you're eating and where it has come from” commented Lydia Rusling of Tastes of Lincolnshire.

Visitors can purchase the popular 'Love Food Love Lincolnshire' eco bags to carry their purchases and get that feel-good-factor by supporting the environment and cutting down the use of plastic bags.

Enhancing the producers will be cookery demonstrations from celebrity chef and Tastes of Lincolnshire champion Rachel Green. Rachel's vibrant and energetic cookery demonstrations are a great way of picking up new recipes and culinary tips. Most of the produce she uses is available from the stall holders so shoppers can gain inspiration on how to use their new purchases or buy after they've seen the produce cooked.

New for 2008 international street performers The Cosmic Sausages will be delighting customers again after a successful appearance at the Lincolnshire Sausage Festival 2007.

The new Good Taste magazine will be available, hot off the press and packed full of recipes, walks, stories and great places to eat and buy local food. This edition of the free publication celebrates the International Year of the Potato with a spud theme!
