Celebrations on the Sydney Harbour Bridge Wednesday 19th March 2008 marks the Sydney Harbour Bridge’s 76th birthday. To commemorate the occasion a mother and daughter, Kerri-Anne and Kimberley Regent, from Sydney shared their birthday celebrations with Australia’s icon by climbing to its summit.

Kerri-Anne Regent said, “Climbing the Bridge today is something that my daughter and I have been planning for months. I am turning 40 today and my daughter turns 12. This is something that we will always remember”.

Their Climb group sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Kerri-Anne, Kimberley and the Sydney Harbour Bridge when they reached the peak, 134 metres above sea level.

The affectionately named ‘coathanger’ opened on Saturday 19th March 1932 allowing Sydney-siders to cross from the north shore directly into the heart of the city for the first time. The official opening day was a momentous occasion, drawing remarkable crowds to the city and the harbour foreshores.

BridgeClimb shares this magnificent structure everyday with every Climber by leading them on an unforgettable journey on the Bridge, revealing its secrets, and showcasing the spectacular views of Sydney.

During the official 75th Anniversary celebrations of the Sydney Harbour Bridge the Governor of NSW, Prof. Marie Bashir, said “A structure for its time has become a structure for all times”.

BridgeClimb offers Climb experiences at dawn, day, twilight, and at night. Each experience will captivate Climbers from beginning to end, and leave an unforgettable memory of Sydney and its Bridge.
