Mussels, music and craic - that’s what’s in store for those who find themselves in North Connemara over the weekend of 2 – 5 May. This year sees the second ‘Connemara Mussel Festival’ on the beautiful Renvyle Peninsula, where it’s expected that more than two tonnes of the delicious bivalves will be harvested and where there’s also traditional music and dance, treasure hunts, plus mussel cookery competitions and tastings.

With Irish Ferries Holidays, four nights at the Renvyle House Hotel is £237 per person (twin share and saving £55 each). For a self-catering – 15 miles away in Westport - a five-night stay at the Cinnamon Wharf apartments is a total of £427. Prices include return Holyhead/Dublin cruise ferry for car and two adults.
