Take a cultural journey by rail to the Salzburg Festival

The 9-day ‘Austria & the Sound of Music’ tour, which departs on Thursday 31st July, visits Salzburg for three-nights during the renowned festival. Attracting many of the world’s best directors, conductors, singers and actors to perform world-renowned operas, plays and concerts, the event is a must for all fans of the classical performing arts.
Highlights of the holiday include three-nights’ stay in the magnificent city of Vienna at the superior 4-star Mercure Grand Hotel Biedermeier. During our time in the Austrian capital we take a walking tour of the fabulous city, visit the world famous Spanish Riding School, take a trip on-board a vintage tram to the small town of Grining, and enjoy dinner and a classical concert at Schönbrunn Palace.
On our arrival in the picturesque city of Salzburg, we are able to relax within the elegant 5-star Hotel Bristol. Highlights include a tour of the town taking in the locations that feature in the film ‘The Sound of Music’, including Leopoldskron Castle, Hellbrunn Castle, Mondsee and the pretty village of Gilgen.
With 43 opera performances, 68 drama performances and 81 concerts, there are plenty of opportunities to be enriched by the cultural events of the Salzburg Festival.
