Go to Dublin and return a travel writer

14th May 2008 Print
Travel writers Dea Birkett and Rory Maclean, author of Stalin’s Nose and Magic Bus (Radio 4’s Book of the Week), are taking their ground-breaking Travel Writing Workshop to Dublin this coming Saturday 17th May.

In the course of a day, they’re going to turn a group of would-be writers into group of published authors and feature writers, to whom an editor can only say, “Yes!”. Within a few weeks of the last workshop, many participants had features commissioned for the first time by national newspapers.

The all-day Travel Writing Workshop is being held at the historic James Joyce Centre in the centre of Dublin, run by Joyce's sister's family. Outside in the yard, you can see the original door from No. 7 Eccles Street. In Ulysses, this is Leopold Bloom’s address.

The Workshop is held in the Guinness Library, full of Joyce's work and with his portraits on the wall, so the inspiration of the great writer surrounds the participants.

The Travel Writing Workshop runs from 10.30am to 4.00pm and costs 145euros.

For the achievements of past participants, further information and to register for the workshop, take a look at the website - Travelworkshops.co.uk.
