Special shows spring into action for Willows’ Half Term
Willows Farm Village near St Albans in Hertfordshire is gearing up for the start of its Spring Special activity to coincide with May Half Term (24th May – 1st June). Highlights of the week include the amazing Dog Agility Shows and the Sheep Shearing Demonstrations.Visitors to the tourist attraction on Coursers Road at London Colney, which features a mix of farmyard animals, events, shows and adventure activities, will be able to watch the Crufts-style Dog Agility Shows every day of Spring Special. In each of the three daily shows dogs will compete against each other by racing through tubes and jumping over hurdles, before splitting into two teams. The Show is also interactive and visitors to Willows can join in the fun.
The twice-daily Sheep Shearing Demonstrations will see Tuck the Shepherd shearing a total of 75 sheep over the course of Spring Special week!
Hundreds of new arrivals will also be on display in Willows’ own maternity wing - the Animal Nursery - including; cute rabbits, baby mice and newborn piglets.
Andrew Wolfe, farmer at Willows, says: “Spring is such a special time on the farm with so many newborn animals and children absolutely love being able to see and learn about all the new arrivals we have here at Willows.
“On top of that we have a packed programme of activities planned every day so children can let off steam and have fun at the same time.”
Willows’ daily programme of events includes; Willows Sheepstakes, Bird-o-batics falconry displays, Tristan the Runaway Tractor, the Sheep Show, Daft Duck Trials, Children’s shows in Woolly’s Showtime Theatre and, of course, Farmyard Favourites featuring the stars of children’s nursery rhymes and stories including Baa Baa Black Sheep and the Three Little Pigs.
Andrew adds: “Willows mascot ‘Woolly Willow’ will also be around during Spring Special and is looking forward to meeting all the children at the Farm Village.”
The Dog Agility Shows will be taking place at 10.30, 12.30 and 3.30. The Sheep Shearing Demonstrations will follow the daily 1.30 and 4.30 shows on the sheep stand.
