Big Bands light up the sky at Eastbourne Bandstand

The regular 1812 Firework concerts are getting bigger every week as a different Band takes to the stage to perform a unique concert featuring a real variety of music that always ends in the Tchaikovsky classic. This week, Eastbourne Silver Band will provide the sixth 1812 concert of 2008 and will continue a tradition that’s been around in Eastbourne for more than 25 years, with a spectacular firework display topping the night off at the country’s only fully operational Bandstand.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said “The 1812 concerts are a real crowd pleaser and really do feature something for everyone. We have some top quality musicians coming up over the next few months and I’m really pleased to welcome the return of the ever popular Eastbourne Silver Band. The magical combination of great music and colourful pyrotechnics guarantees a unique evening of entertainment and all from the historic venue of Eastbourne Bandstand.”
The packed Bandstand programme continues all week long, with Big Band Sound taking audiences back in time to the 30’s and 40’s with Big Band night on Thursday. The Bandstand comes to life as saxophones, trumpets and trombones relive all the hits from this memorable era.
Status Quo provides a brand new Tribute at the Bandstand on Friday evening and will perform popular hits including Rockin’ All Over the World, Little Dreamer and Caroline.
Advance tickets are now available for 1812 concerts and Friday Night Tributes and audiences are encouraged to book their tickets early to guarantee their seats in the famous seafront venue. Available from Eastbourne Tourist Information Centre.
