Durham deals with the credit crunch

Durham Deals are downloadable vouchers available on the visitcountydurham.com website, and offer great-value savings at more than 20 attractions, including two-for-one entry and children go free.
Parents can treat their children to days out at County Durham farms, museums, activity centres and historic sites during the summer holidays, without worrying about adding to the financial burden of rising fuel and food prices.
Melanie Sensicle, chief executive of County Durham Tourism Partnership, said: “The credit crunch is a concern nationwide at present, and with more and more people deciding to stay at home rather than take foreign holidays, Durham Deals means everyone, especially families, can have fun days-out without breaking the bank.”
Excellent public transport routes throughout County Durham, including services on Sundays and Bank Holidays, mean that visitors can leave the car at home and avoid paying high fuel prices. For detailed maps and timetables, visitors can log onto Durham County Council’s website, durham.gov.uk, then download and print the information.
Participating attractions include World Heritage Site Durham Cathedral and Castle, Bowes Museum, The Oriental Museum and Botanic Gardens in Durham City, Tanfield Railway, North of England Trike Tours and Dalton Park shopping mall.

Ian Forbes, manager of Killhope, North of England Lead Mining Museum, said: “Durham deals are excellent and easy to use. They can be downloaded, used the same day, and are an ideal opportunity to share the magical experience of visiting Durham with partners, friends and family.”
