Follow the trail of Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging

From the huge purple VisitBandstand.com banner at Eastbourne Bandstand to the Chippy on the pier; from the boats at Fisherman’s Green to the seafront’s colourful Carpet Gardens; visitors from around the world will be able to follow the trail of Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging on an exciting new film map.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said “I am really excited about the release of Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging and from early reviews, the film is set to be a huge success this summer. It’s even more exciting that the film is actually set in Eastbourne and viewers won’t be able to miss our iconic seafront landmarks. Hot on the heels of this superb film, we are really keen to promote Eastbourne as an upcoming film location and a map will be a great way of attracting interest from visitors and appealing to new film-makers too.”
Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging is the latest film from the Director of Bend it Like Beckham, Gurinder Chadha, and has already attracted promising reviews for its hilarious coming of age story.
Filmed in Eastbourne last October, the resort’s famous seafront Carpet Gardens feature in the opening scene of the film as main character Georgia runs along the seafront dressed as an olive!
With references to the town throughout, producers even bought in Eastbourne bins, recycling boxes, and deckchairs to ensure continuity and establish the film’s setting when filming took place outside the town.
Featuring Eastbourne in such a huge way, marketing bosses at Eastbourne Borough Council are keen to use Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging to promote the town’s Film Liaison Unit and market Eastbourne as a film location.
With the resort also being used to shoot scenes from Harry Potter, Notes on a Scandal and TV’s Miss Marple over the past couple of years, Eastbourne is attracting growing interest from top film companies all vying for the seaside resort’s charming setting.
The Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging film location map is being planned to coincide with the release of the film on DVD and will also be available to download online from VisitEastbourne.com.
The film comes out this Friday 25 July and is scheduled to be shown at Cineworld, Eastbourne.
