National celebrations set to light up Singapore’s skies

The Singapore Fireworks Celebrations 2008 will return as a major highlight of the National Day Celebrations 2008. The Fireworks Celebrations will close this year’s National Day Celebrations with a big bang. The event will be staged at the Floating Gallery at the Marina Waterfront, sharing the same site as the National Day Parade 2008. The dates for the Singapore Fireworks Celebrations 2008 are 22nd & 23rd August 2008.

For the first time, members of the public will get to purchase tickets to this spectacular event.

After clinching the People’s Choice and Finalist of The Singapore Tourism Awards for last year’s event, this year’s Fireworks Display promises to be yet another spectacular and breathtaking experience. To celebrate Singapore as a global destination hub and its strong friendship with communities around the world, 2 international award winning teams from France and Korea – Feerie and Woojin, have been invited to showcase their cultures, through a dazzling display of fireworks blended with moving music, and to stage amazing pyromusicals in Singapore’s night skies.

For the launch event on 22nd August Friday, Feerie will take to the stage at Marina Bay with their fireworks show entitled “French Romance”. On 23rd August Saturday, Woojin will be presenting “Korean Fantasia”.

The event will open in the evening from 5.30pm with a fun, interactive and exciting build-up of performances and carnival featuring a wide array of arts, food and beverage stalls leading to the main fireworks at night. The fireworks display will start at 9pm.

The Fireworks Display appeals to a wide audience, the young and the elderly, locals as well as tourists. The event is expected to draw approximately 400,000 people and attract extensive media coverage.
