New events for Copenhagen this summer A host of big names form the world of electronic music are set to visit the Danish capital for this year’s STROM Festival. To be true, this festival started on a smaller scale last year, but after its huge success, its now set to become a major annual event.

The main focus will be centre stage at Engehaveparken in the Vesterbro area of the city. There will also be great live performances at clubs like, Vega, Culture Box, Rust, Nadsat and Stengade 30.

Names early in the week, as from Tuesday, include UK Bomb the Bass, German Modeselektor & Pfadfinderei and Swedish Maskinen, Finnish Luomon, German Disrupt and American Octave One. This represents a great range from lounge microhouse to the hard techno sound of Detroit.

The festival offers free concerts on Friday and Saturday until midnight, after which the music continues with live performances and DJs at clubs situated in Copenhagen’s new creative urban space, Kodbyen (The meat packing district)

The new genre of dubstep has really caught on in recent years and is now the most characteristic trend within electronic music. Saturday night at the STROM Festival turns the spotlight on this innovative music with a special Dubstep Night.

The event will feature performances by London producer The Bug along with rapper Flowdan. International names for this special evening include performances by Japanese dubstep producer GothTrad, British duo DJ Hatcha & MC Crazy D, and two local DJs DJ 2000F and JSL.
