Go wild at beamish this summer

Visitors are going wild for two new Durham attractions. A ropes activity course and a Bird of Prey conservation centre have opened in Durham. Beamish Wild, part of Beamish Hall Country House Hotel, opened in July and is already attracting significant numbers of leisure, corporate and educational visitors. The attractions are the only ones of their kind in Durham.

The ropes activity centre is a high-wire adventure course in the tree-tops above the hotel grounds. It features exciting elements, including The Spider’s Web, Cat Walk and the adrenaline filled Leap of Faith, a vertical 35-foot descent to the forest floor using a fan descender.

The centre offers both a recreational and a development course, making it suitable for leisure users seeking high adrenaline excitement or schools, colleges and corporate clients looking to encourage team building and personal development.

Beamish Wild’s Birds of Prey conservation centre blends naturally with its secluded woodland setting and features large, free flight aviaries that house captive bred species, including eagles, falcons, hawks and owls.

Visitors can enjoy up close and personal access to the birds, while free flight displays and educational tours offer an interesting insight into the conservation work being done for some of the world’s most precious species.
