Floriade turns 21 — Join the party From September 13 to October 12 more than one million blooms will cascade into colour at Commonwealth Park in the heart of Canberra, Australia. Inspired by the films that have shaped our nation, visitors will see a lavish wedding dress from Muriel’s Wedding, Australia’s favourite foot-slapping penguin from Happy Feet, the spectacular bus from The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Babe’s lovable sheep-herding pig and many more – all emerging from the beautiful garden beds.

A special onsite cinema will showcase rare and special footage from many years of Australian film. Roving entertainers, garden design competitions, amazing fashion designed in flowers and educational sessions providing clever backyard tips are all on offer.

A colourful exhibition will showcase many of the amazing stories from the past 21 years of Floriade, from the very first Floriade to the most recent event that attracted record visitation to the nation’s capital.

Visitors can tantalise their tastebuds in the Tastes of Capital Region marquee by indulging in local and regional food and wine or collect a piece of local art and craft to remember their trip.

An early morning balloon ride over the nation’s capital can provide a spectacular bird’s eye perspective of the amazing floral displays throughout Commonwealth Park.

Celebrate Floriade’s 21st birthday by being part of the very first Floriade NightFest. Visitors can join the party over five nights with night markets, amazing lantern displays, spectacular lighting throughout the park, special short films on the huge outdoor screen and delicious drinks at the NightFest Glow Bar.

Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster but are limited so don’t miss out! Floriade 21 promises to be the best yet and there is also plenty to do in and around Canberra.

Combine your visit with a trip to the exciting new Canberra Glassworks where you can blow your own special design. Or perhaps take in the VIVID National Photography Festival featuring at many Canberra venues including Floriade 21, the National Museum of Australia, the National Library of Australia, the National Gallery of Australia, the Australian National University and many more.
