Simcha on the Square
Londoners looking for a free party this Sunday should head to Trafalgar Square for the annual Simcha on the Square festival. Open to all ages, races, religions and backgrounds, this free event is a celebration of Jewish culture, where guests can enjoy live music, art, traditional foods and special dance performances.Headlining the event are the Grammy Award winning Klezmatics with their funky and exciting fusion of Yiddish and contemporary music. The New York based Klezmer band are performing their funky wedding party music alongside a host of the UK’s best Jewish music and dance ensembles, such as Joglaresa, a Judeo Spanish band, Gregori Schechter and his rhythm infused klezmer and dance beat master Max Pashm. There will also be choir singing and traditional dancing, such as the Horah.
Art enthusiasts will have the opportunity to explore the fantastic artistic heritage of the Jewish religion at stalls selling art, crafts, books and music. Exhibitions and children’s activities will also keep everyone entertained - perfect for a family day out.
A chance for Jewish Londoners to network and enjoy their own cultural heritage and for all others to appreciate the cultural diversity of the capital, Simcha on the Square is one party not to miss!
