Back to Bach – Nantes to host classical music event From 28 January to 1 February 2009, Nantes will play host to the largest classical music event in Europe - La Folle Journée de Nantes. Now in its 15th year, the event comprises over 1,800 musicians and 270 concerts and sees the city come alive for a weekend of compelling performances themed around a particular classical era and/or composer.

Next year, La Folle Journée will celebrate the composers of Northern Germany from 1650 to 1750 including the renowned works of Heinrich Schütz and Johann Sebastian Bach. Visitors will enjoy some of classical music’s most fêted works, together with a number of rare pieces, many of which have never been played in concert. The repertoire will also include contemporary interpretations of Bach’s music, two of which have been written exclusively for La Folle Journée de Nantes by the renowned composers Bruno Mantovani and Uri Caine.

A weekend package starts from 195€ per person for two nights’ accommodation in a two star hotel on a bed and breakfast basis and tickets to six concerts at the Cité Internationale des Congrès.
