Warm up around Windermere this Boxing Day

The award-winning Lake District visitor attraction will be open on Boxing Day between 10am and 4pm and can provide chilly visitors with a tropical experience in its rainforest area.
But knowing that many will want some fresh air and a chance to get over the excesses of Christmas Day, the Aquarium will also be handing out details of a wonderful winter walk from Lakeside to High Dam.
Visitors can just pick up the details in the Lakes Aquarium and then head off to High Dam on a short and manageable walk that will blow the cobwebs away. There’s no obligation to go in to the Aquarium, but the good news is that its Oscar’s café – separate from the main building – will be open and ready to serve warming hot chocolate, delicious soup, full meals or snacks, to those wishing to warm up after their bracing walk.
Oscar’s will have an attractive menu of dishes and refreshments available, all of which can be enjoyed when taking in the stunning lakeside view that’s available from the bistro café. With views up the lake and over to Fell Foot Park, this is a must for photographers and scenery lovers.
Marketing Manager, Cathy Burrows, says: “We are looking forward to bringing a little warmth around Windermere this Christmas week and hope to see lots of families enjoying the beautiful natural environment as part of their Christmas 2008 experience.”
More details about the location of the Lakes Aquarium is available on lakesaquarium.co.uk where opening hours and admission prices, for those wishing to tour the attraction over Christmas, are also available.
