Go wild at Pensthorpe Nature Reserve
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, home of BBC Springwatch and famous for nature and conservation in Norfolk, is hosting the third action-packed ‘Wild About The Wensum’ day on Saturday, May 16th from 10am to 5pm.Commenting on the wild day out Tim Nevard, Trustee of the Pensthorpe Conservation Trust said: “Wild About the Wensum’ is an event for all the family and is a great opportunity to celebrate the natural history and heritage of the Wensum Valley, with loads of activities from a mini beast exploration to guided walks, nature quizzes and treasure hunts.”
Visitors will also find local craft demonstrations, mobile making, face painting, a bird radio tracking game, bird identification sessions with local experts and many more games and adventures. Music will be provided by folk band Rig a Jig Jig. There will also be a hog roast and barbecue.
The Wensum Valley, is designated as a Special Area for Conservation (SAC) by the European Union and Natural England and Jordans Cereals, Morrisons and Fakenham Learning Partnership will be supporting this year’s event to help conserve this fabulous, internationally-recognised landscape.
Admission to the Pensthorope and the event is free on the day, with a nominal £4 car parking charge per vehicle to help make it financially sustainable and to encourage car sharing. This species being supported by this year’s event will be the Barn Owl.
Deb Jordan, Pensthorpe’s owner said: “This is our third annual Wild About The Wensum celebration. Last year over 4,000 people attended the event and we hope that many more local people will take the opportunity to come on May 16th to discover this amazing natural world on their doorstep.”
