2nd February 2009 Print
A walk in Chopin’s footsteps To celebrate the 200th anniversary of Frederic Chopin’s birth, a new tour visiting important places in the famous composer’s life has been unveiled. The Mazovian Regional Tourist Organization – the area of Poland where Chopin was born and raised – is behind the tour which will allow visitors to experience the pianist’s early life.

The Chopin Mazovia tour starts in Warsaw and visits Milanówek and Niepokalanów as well as other famous Polish regions before heading to Sochaczew – the town Chopin used to visit and perform in before he emigrated – and ¯elazowa Wola, the Mazovian village, where he was born. It is then on to Brochów where his parents got married and where Chopin himself was baptised.

Acting Director of the Polish National Tourist Office, Ewa Bikin, said: “At a time when we are celebrating Chopin’s 200th birthday, this tour gives visitors to the region a unique insight to his life. It gives people the opportunity to walk in his footsteps in a wonderful part of the country.”
