February frolics at Willows Farm Village

Farmer Andrew Wolfe has timed the birth of the lambs so that they arrive from 14th – 22nd February, allowing children to come to the farm during February Frolics, Willows half term holiday event, and see the new arrivals.
It is not often that a mother sheep would want a wolf anywhere near her newborn lamb, but farmers Andrew and Anna Wolfe are an exception, and both will be really busy all week with the lambing. Children can come and watch the Wolfes and the other farmers at their work, see the new lambs and the lucky ones may even get to watch a lamb being born!
Andrew Wolfe says: “Lambing is hard work – it is one of the busiest times of year on a farm. Anna and I will be taking it in turns to sleep because one of us needs to be with the sheep throughout the night in case they have any problems.
“Most of the time the sheep just get on with things themselves, but sometimes they need us to give them a bit of help. Some new lambs need to be shown how to feed properly, and some of the new mothers need help to bond with their baby.
“The February Frolics event is a great opportunity for children to witness the spectacular event of a birth, and as it all takes place under cover they can meet the lambs whatever the weather over half term. They will see how quickly the new born lambs learn to stand and feed, and within a couple of hours they are able to frolic around. For many children this will be a completely new and fascinating experience.”
There are also plenty of other activities children can enjoy at Willows Farm Village, including the indoor play barn Woolly Jumpers, and the Tractor Trek, which has been moved undercover and heated for the cold weather.
Outside, the whole family can enjoy over 500 acres of activities, including a ride on Tristan the Runaway Tractor, falconry displays, Woolly’s Workout Agility Play Trail, fun fair rides and adventure play, as well as visiting all the other farmyard animals. It is also well worth calling in to the Animal Nursery at this time of year, where visitors will find more baby animals.
