Time Team star makes welcome return to York

Time Team star makes welcome return to York With his bright jumpers and unbridled enthusiasm for archaeology Professor Mick Aston has become one of the stars of the hit Channel Four show Time Team. An estimated 3 million people tune in regularly to watch Time Team digging for hidden archaeology and rare finds. Now in it's 17th year, the popular Channel 4 archaeology programme has made stars of its presenters.

As part of the first day of the JORVIK Viking Festival on Wednesday 18 February, Mick Aston will be talking about 'Making Time Team'. He will look at how the programme is made, the people involved and the sites visited in 2008. The event takes place on Wednesday 18 February, 19.30. Tempest Anderson Hall, Yorkshire Museum. Tickets £10 adults, £8 concessions.

Says Mick Aston, York is a medieval gem which I always look forward to visiting – “I have been back several times since our Time Team Live programme in the summer of 1999. I'm going to be talking about how Time Team is made, so you'll get a look behind the scenes, though I can't promise to give away all our secrets!”

Also taking place at Tempest Anderson Hall as part of the first Day of the JORVIK Viking Festival is Bonebreaker with children’s author Peter J Murray. Peter will be giving an action-packed performance of Bonebreaker, the tale of a young boy's battle to defeat the evil spirit of a savage Viking villain! With thrills, spills and plenty of audience participation, this is an unmissable treat for kids! Suitable for ages 7-12. Wednesday 18 February, 14.00. Tempest Anderson Hall, Yorkshire Museum. Tickets £3 adults, £2 concessions.

To book tickets for either event, log on to Jorvik-viking-centre.co.uk.
