Burlington Arcade supports The Young Victoria Burlington Arcade is delighted to be supporting the release of The Young Victoria, the highly anticipated film from Academy Award winners Graham King and Martin Scorsese. The film tells the story of Queen Victoria’s early rise to power, passionate courtship and marriage to Prince Albert.

It is only fitting for the Burlington Arcade to endorse the film as Victoria was born in 1819, the same year that Burlington Arcade opened as Britain’s very first shopping arcade - and remains to this day one of London’s most luxurious shopping destinations.

To commemorate the occasion, shoppers are invited to enter a free prize draw in store, with the chance to win tickets to an exclusive preview of the film at BAFTA on March 5th. The Arcade will also have on display one of Victoria’s dresses from the film at the Piccadilly entrance.

Visitors will be able to browse through the Arcade and undertake a Victorian trail with many of the Arcade’s retailers showcasing beautiful and interesting pieces from that era.

Discover specialist pieces at Richard Ogden (no.28), who have many Scottish pieces; during her many visits to Balmoral, Queen Victoria developed a particular fondness for jewellery made from local materials.

Susannah Lovis (no.50) well known for her exceptional antique collection and currently has on display a salamander bracelet in yellow gold, a superb example of the Victorian’s love of animal symbolism.

If you’re looking for something unusual, Daniel Bexfield Antiques stock a wide selection of rare and beautiful silver pieces including a Victorian Silver Snuff Box made by Nathaniel Mills of Birmingham in 1847.

Hancocks & Co (no.52/3), founded in 1849, has exclusively designed and produced the Victoria Cross since the inception of the award in 1856; visit the store to view a stunning collection of bespoke jewellery and silver.

Johnson Walker (no.64) is a specialist in fine period jewellery, with a wide collection of intricate Victorian pieces including a patriotic diamond and pearl crown brooch and a pearl chocker similar to a piece worn by Emily Blunt in the film.
