Sharks, Stingrays and free stays for kids in Cornwall Prepare for some face to face encounters in a tropical shark lagoon at Newquay's Blue Reef Aquarium and get a free stay for one child per family at the nearby family-friendly Sands Resort. Free child places* are available at the Sands for holidays of six nights or more during the Easter period.

The Aquarium is running a 'Predators' event throughout the Easter holidays - from stingrays to sharks, and lionfish to jellyfish, discover the amazing techniques marine animals have developed to survive and thrive in the underwater battlefield.

A 6-night stay in a spacious 2-bedroom suite at the Sands in April starts at £828 for a family of two adults and two children on a B + B basis.

Free facilities at the hotel include an indoor pool, outdoor adventure play areas (maze, zip-wire and climbing walls for older children), and a junior play area with sandpit and play boat for toddlers. There are also four age-banded children's clubs, visits from the Blue Reef Aquarium and Newquay Zoo and for teenagers, there's tennis, football, golf and a teenagers' games room - all of which gives parents plenty of chill-out time at the hotel's Ocean Breeze Spa.

The Sands Resort is at Porth, on the north Cornwall coast, between Newquay and Watergate Bay. Visit sandsresort.co.uk for more information.

* Free stays for children at the Sands: youngest child (under 7) stays free;
* Blue Reef Aquarium details: bluereefaquarium.co.uk. Admission to the Aquarium is £26 for a family of four.
