Lakes Aquarium lays on a treat for mums

Lakes Aquarium lays on a treat for mums Lakes Aquarium, at Lakeside near Newby Bridge in Cumbria, is laying on a special treat for Mums visiting during the Mothering Sunday weekend. On both Saturday March 21 and Sunday March 22, it is offering free entry to mothers via a special voucher that can be printed out from a link at lakesaquarium.co.uk.

Mums can enter free of charge with this voucher, as long as they are accompanied by a full paying child or adult.

Mums can then enjoy exploring the exciting world of freshwater and the creatures of the world living in and around it.

To make the day extra special, the Aquarium is offering a free family photograph, to mark the occasion. Family groups will be photographed in the Seashore Discovery Zone, using a backdrop of the amazing underwater tunnel.

This family photo will then be emailed to whatever address the family provide, giving them a wonderful memento of a day out with Mum.

During their visit, mothers can observe the maternal instincts of mother marmoset. Her two babies, which arrived in late summer 2008, are growing up fast, but are still only small bundles of joy. Marmosets are the world’s smallest monkey and only weigh a few ounces even when fully grown.

The Aquarium is promising lots of information relating to how its various fish and animals care for their young. It will also provide plenty of opportunities to have questions answered by the informative talks team.

Families can watch interactive otter feeding taking place at 10.30am and 3pm and listen to a talk, without feeding, at 12 noon.

With various parts of the globe to explore, from deepest Africa to exotic Asia, and Windermere-themed elements offering insights to creatures closer to home, Mums can have a great day out with the children.

Oscar’s Restaurant, on the water’s edge and with a stunning view of Windermere, will also be open for hot and cold refreshments, snacks, meals and daily specials.

Lakes Aquarium’s marketing manager, Cathy Burrows, says: “We want to make sure Mums have a special day out with their brood and believe free entry, along with the opportunity to have a great family photo taken, will be just the ticket this Mother’s Day weekend.

“Our normal adult admission costs £8.75, so Mums can save a tidy sum to spend on other pamper treats, as well as enjoying a great family day out.”
