Lake District festival for adventure enthusiasts
Whether your preferred adventure activity is climbing, walking, water or biking, the Lake District's Keswick Mountain Festival - from 13-17 May - has plenty to offer. For the super-fit there's the Keswick Triathlon and the Latrigg Fell Race but for mere mortals there are also plenty of opportunities to try out different adventure sports or improve on existing skills.
In addition, inspirational speakers galore include double Olympic champion - and winner, with Ben Fogle, of the Atlantic Rowing Race - James Cracknell. See keswickmountainfestival.co.uk for full details.
For those that don't want to miss out on any of the five-day festival fun, Cumbrian Cottages features a wide range of properties from one-bedroom apartments sleeping two to the massive seven-bedroom/six-bathroom Bonshaw that sleeps 12.
The cost of Bonshaw - a Lakeland stone fronted house, only a five-minute walk from the centre of Keswick - for seven nights from 9 May is £1020, or just £85 per person based on a full house.
At the other end of the scale, 2 Greta Side Court Apartments - part of a converted Pencil Mill on the banks of the River Greta in the centre of Keswick - is just built for two and costs £320 for Festival week.
