24th June 2009 Print
Infuse a cruise with a taste of Cumbria The distinctive taste of Cumbria and the Lake District will infuse a cruise in the coming months as the divine Ullswater ‘Steamers’ lay on Cumbrian Fayre evening buffet cruises on England’s most beautiful lake.

Two departure points signal different menus and entertainers for these gastronomic water-based jaunts, which cost £25 and take place between 7pm and 9pm.

Passengers boarding at Pooley Bridge at the north of the lake on July 15 and August 12, enjoy a Cumbrian buffet prepared by the Crown at Blencathra and entertainment from one of the UK’s leading magicians, Stu-Di-Doo.

This buffet will combine Cumbrian delicacies, such as Caldbeck beef, Westmorland ham, Cumbrian sausage and Thursby cheese, with global influences, to provide a range of taste sensations.

Those opting to sail from Glenridding at the southern end of Ullswater, on July 1 and 29 and August 26, will be treated to a taste of Cumbria prepared by Brunswick Deli of Penrith and the exquisite guitar playing and singing of recording artist, Peter Lashley.

The Brunswick Deli buffet includes local delicacies from the Hawkshead Relish Company, Thornby Moore cheese, Cumberland sausage and fine local roast ham.

Feasting on the landscape has never been easier, an Ullswater ‘Steamers’ cruise traversing a true jewel of a lake set within some of the Lake District’s most stunning landscape. With Helvellyn – England’s third highest mountain – at the head of Ullswater and three distinct reaches to absorb, this mythical and mysterious serpentine lake never fails to thrill.
