‘British Wonders’ in Shakespeare Country Shakespeare Country attractions have been listed in the top 50 ‘British Wonders’ survey by MSN. The top 50 list, which rates the nation’s most beautiful and fascinating sights in the UK, asks which ones people have actually visited.

According to a recent survey, twice as many Britons have visited the Eiffel Tower than Stonehenge.

The Shakespeare Houses appear at number 23 and Warwick Castle at number 28. Reference is also made to the Royal Shakespeare Company whilst visiting Stratford-upon-Avon. Shakespeare Country’s partners were also listed in the top 50 with Alton Towers at number 30 and Ironbridge Gorge at number 11.

The British Wonders survey was put together by MSN travel experts and readers polls. Other attractions to make the top 50 list include the Falkirk Wheel, Brighton Royal Pavilion, Cheddar Gorge, Edinburgh Castle, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Brecon Beacons National Park, Loch Ness, National Gallery, The Tate Galleries and Giant’s Causeway. The Great Glen is listed at number 3, The Eden Project at number 2 and Stonehenge at number 1.

Phil Hackett, Chief Executive of Shakespeare Country, stated “This is a great accolade for Shakespeare Country members and partners to be included within the top 50 British Wonders survey. The survey is testament to the fact that Shakespeare Country offers visitors some of the finest national treasures in the UK. With more Briton’s expected to holiday in the UK this year, we hope that many more will visit the region and re-discover why our first class attractions rightly deserve to be on this list.”
