Enjoy all the fun of the ‘Puck Fair’
In a country renowned for its weird and wonderful festivals, the Puck Fair in County Kerry certainly combines the weird – the crowning of a mountain goat as King of the Fair – with 12 hours of free street entertainment for all ages.Held each year on 10, 11 and 12 August in the town of Killorglin, the Puck Fair is Ireland’s oldest festival and now attracts not just home-grown entertainers but also unusual international acts.
This year, visitors can enjoy the spectacle of the ‘Lions of Africa’, a group of Senegalese artists who perform a captivating display which includes dance and acrobatics to the infectious rhythms of their traditional music. The ‘Lions’ will be performing in the town square on all three days.
Other entertainment includes traditional Irish music at various locations, pipe bands, puppet shows, jugglers and circus performers, plus at midnight on the last evening, a huge firework display.
