Singapore to host new Chanel concept boutique

25th August 2009 Print
Singapore has long been known as a destination of culture, diversity and style, but now its luxury credentials have also been recognised as the announcement comes that world-renowned French fashion house Chanel will open a unique concept boutique at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, to boost its presence in Southeast Asia.

The Chanel fashion boutique will be a prominent fixture in the resort’s upscale Marina Bay Sands Shoppes. It will encompass 7,600 square feet of space spread over two levels. "Chanel is very excited to be part of the Marina Bay Sands concept. It is a great opportunity to join the ultimate house of luxury with a truly innovative and creative retail environment. Singapore has a young, progressive and energetic retail scene and Chanel does not believe in mass distribution and is discerning in deciding where the boutiques are placed to ensure the right consumer experience and service,” said Mr. Vincent Shaw, President of Chanel Asia Pacific.

In recent years, Singapore has stepped up its luxury credentials by adding to its collection of five star hotels such as Raffles, The Fullerton, Shangri-La and the Mandarin Oriental, with stunning new properties including The Capella on Sentosa and St. Regis on Orchard Road and looks forward to welcoming two fantastic integrated resorts in the coming months: Marina Bay Sands in 2009 and Resorts World Sentosa in 2010.

Visitors can choose from a wide selection of fine-dining restaurants or upscale hawker markets, for a range of international and local cuisines to suit every discerning palate. Home to some of the world’s best restaurants, sample world-class gastronomic experiences at Morton’s at The Mandarin Oriental Singapore, as well as home-grown restaurants such as Iggy’s, Les Amis and My Humble House which were named among the world’s top 100 best restaurants by the prestigious Restaurant magazine. Sentosa’s The Cliff and Il Lido offer spectacular sunset sea views while dining on gourmet fare. For that extra something special, Il Lido offers exclusive and private dining on a yacht.

Clarke Quay and Dempsey Hill both offer wonderful opportunities to drink, dine and dance in some of the most exclusive venues in town and the world famous shopping mecca Orchard Road has just completed a fantastic refurbishment, creating an even better, and more elite, shopping experience.

For the discerning world voyager, Singapore is a modern city with a rich and interesting east-west blend of culture, tradition and architecture. A variety of five-star wellness and spa facilities are also on offer, including destination spa ‘Spa Botanica’ on Sentosa, and day spas ‘Amrita Spa’ at Raffles, ‘The Asian Spa’ at The Fullerton and ‘The Oriental Spa’ at The Mandarin Oriental. 2010 will see the arrival of an ESPA six star destination spa and wellness retreat on Sentosa, complete with private pools set amidst an exotic tropical landscape, as part of the Resorts World at Sentosa complex.

Divya Panickar, Area Director, North and West Europe for the Singapore Tourism Board, comments “Singapore is firmly establishing itself as a luxury destination, with a wide selection of five star hotels, fine-dining restaurants and a growing number of luxury shopping outlets. Lovers of luxury brands can delight in the emergence of an increasing number of boutiques in Singapore plus newly-opened flagships by international jewellery brands like Cartier and Harry Winston”.

She continues, “And there’s more to come, as Singapore’s luxurious shopping scene welcomes a collection of new-to-market brands launching at the Marina Bay Sands Shoppes, which will have more than 300 stores complemented with lifestyle offerings such as gourmet dining, lavish accommodation and world-class events. The addition of the Chanel boutique is a real accolade and further endorsement of Singapore’s growing status as a luxury destination”.
