Shakespeare Country shortlisted in Tourism Oscars Shakespeare Country has been shortlisted twice as a finalist in this year’s Heart of England Excellence in Tourism Awards.

The Shakespeare Country Tourist Information Centre’s have been shortlisted under Tourist Information Service and the Shakespeare Country Conference Bureau has been shortlisted under Best Convention Bureau.

A number of Shakespeare Country members have also been shortlisted with the Menzies Welcombe Hotel and Ardencote Manor being nominated under Large Hotel, Shakespeare’s Houses & Gardens under Best Tourism Experience and Guiding You for two categories under Access for All Award and Regional Culture Award.

The Heart of England Excellence in Tourism Awards, in association with the EnjoyEngland Awards for Excellence 2010, are a celebration of the very best in tourism in the West Midlands and showcase the diverse and fantastic range of attractions, accommodations and tourism venues that the region has to offer.

The Awards recognise and reward the best in regional tourism, an industry that contributes £6 billion a year to the West Midlands economy. Gold, silver and commended winners will be revealed at a gala dinner and ceremony at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham on Thursday 29 October.

The regional awards are supported by the regional development agency Advantage West Midlands through Tourism West Midlands - the strategic tourism board. All category winners will go forward to the shortlisting stage of the National EnjoyEngland Excellence in Tourism Awards 2010, the highest accolade in English tourism.

Phil Hackett, Chief Executive for Shakespeare Country stated, “We’re delighted that Shakespeare Country has been nominated in two categories as well as a number of our members in these prestigious industry awards.
