The official tourism bookings and information website for the New Forest, Thenewforest.co.uk, has boosted takings by almost 75%, and the amount of users by 49%, since its launch on the 31 October 2006. A ‘Like for Like’ statement in January 2006 and 2007 shows the value of bookings has gone from £5,000 in January 06 to £19,000 in 2007.

As for users on the website, the amount has risen from 27,000 in 2006, to 55,000 in 2007.

The website not only aims to provide visitors to the New Forest with everything they need to know, but also for local residents, who can use the extremely comprehensive events listings to find out what is going on in their area.

Tourism officer Terry Kane, who has been the driving force behind the website’s revamp, said this is fantastic news for the tourism industry in the New Forest.

“This is brilliant news for residents and businesses in the New Forest, as an increased number of visitors will bring in more revenue in for the area,” he said.

“I am really pleased with the results so far - the fantastic redesign of the site has received very positive feedback, and the increased hit-rate is great news.

“I hope local residents also use the site as it’s a great resource for finding things to do in the area and for accommodation if they have visitors.”
