Peter Hook’s Manchester available on podcast

Visit Manchester Music fans can now download the second and third episodes from Manchester’s exclusive series of six free podcasts, presented by Manchester’s musical icons past and present.

Featuring a diverse selection of music from present day bands and musicians such as Keith, Orphan Boy and David Potts, each episode is presented by a prominent artist famed for making Manchester the world’s number one music capital.

Episodes two and three are presented by John Robb and Peter Hook respectively.

Frontman of Goldblade and acclaimed journalist, John Robb is a veteran of Manchester’s music scene. With countless gigs, articles, books and TV appearances to his name, Robb has seen Manchester’s music develop from punk and post-punk through to Madchester and Britpop. This episode looks at the city’s best places to eat and drink and includes anecdotes in relation to Karl Marx, Jimi Hendrix, the Stone Roses and Nirvana.

As the bass player for Joy Division and New Order, Peter Hook is a Mancunian legend. When The Sex Pistols played at Manchester’s Free Trade Hall in 1976, the small audience were inspired to start a new wave of ground-breaking Manchester music. Needless to say, Peter Hook was there. In this exclusive podcast, Hook talks about his favourite parts of the city, Manchester’s musical heritage and the high calibre of unsigned talent on the city’s current music scene.

With three more podcasts still to be released, the series will continue to offer fans a unique and contemporary take on Manchester’s acclaimed musical heritage. Watch this space for a number of exciting announcements within the coming weeks.
