Fiji - South Pacific’s top spa destination

These coupled with the existing spas at Namale, Jean Michel Cousteau’s Fiji Resort, Qamea, and Wakaya Beach Club have made Fiji a major attraction for luxury spa enthusiasts.
On Denerau Island, close to the international airport at Nadi, the Westin Denerau Island Resort & Spa has added a new ten treatment room Heavenly Spa making it the largest in Fiji. Nestled in lush gardens with beautiful lily lagoons, highlights of the spa include 2 live in spa suites, a Vichi shower treatment room, a hydrotherapy room and a 25 meter infinity pool. A comprehensive range of treatments using Thalgo products are on offer. Also on Denerau, The Hilton Fiji Resort & Spa and the Sofitel with its Mandara Spa opened last year offering an extensive range of Pevonia Botanica and Elemis treatments respectively.
To add to these world class new spas, in May 2007 The Outrigger on the Coral Coast will open the Bebe Spa, located on a mountain ridge, with breathtaking direct ocean views. The spa will feature seven treatment rooms, a health bar and a dedicated beauty centre. Bebe’s signature massages ‘Totoka’ and ‘Dro Tani’ combine hydrotherapy and aromatherapy and the spa will use both Pevonia Botanica and the locally produced Pure Fiji range.
Also just along the coast the Shangri La Fijian Resort is scheduled to open it’s Chi Spa on July 1st 2007 with four water facing treatment bures and two forest treatment bures along with an impressive reception area. Chi Spa will be based on traditional Chinese and Himalayan treatments.
Located in Fiji’s outer islands Yasawa Island Resort, voted Best Romantic Hideaway in the 2006 Condé Nast Johansson’s Awards, opened its Bavari Spa in December 2006 on the pristine white sands of its idyllic island. The fabulous new spa has been constructed in a blend of traditional and contemporary styles, with spa pools and indoor and outdoor treatment areas just metres from the ocean’s edge. Its signature massage, the Baravi Rhythm, is performed by two synchronised therapists, working in rhythm with the sound of the waves.
Further north, on the island of Vanua Levu is Namale, Fiji’s most renowned spa resort, set in 325 acres of swaying palm trees. With only 16 bures (bungalows) dotted amongst lush vegetation, this beautiful resort is the epitome of seclusion and privacy. The jewel in it’s crown is it’s 10,000 sq ft award winning spa set on a volcanic cliff. The focal point of the building is a central hydrotherapy room with a huge jacuzzi, four soaking tubs, a steam room and waterfall shower all with stunning views over the ocean and Namale’s famous blowhole. The spa offers an extensive range of western treatments in it’s huge treatment rooms, using Aveda and Pure Fiji products as well as providing Shiatsu, Thai massage and local massage therapies.
Other island spa resorts include Jean Michel Cousteau’s with a serene spa looking out over its marine conservation park, Qamea on the island of Taveuni with is 5 treatment room Guinot spa, and Wakaya Beach club, loved by celebrities such as Nicole Kidman, which has a water’s edge ‘Breeze’ spa.
