The new addition to the MSC fleet of luxury cruise liners is the “Orchestra” which has been launched on 14 May 07 at Civitavecchia Port, near Rome. Sophia Loren was special guest of honour to the launch of the luxury ship which will start operating for the general public on 2 June 07 from Venice to the Mediterranean touching countries such as Greece, Turkey and Croatia.

GROSSETO AIRPORT IN TUSCANY STARTS ITS ACTVITY

Grosseto, the main town in the Maremma region of Tuscany is now ready to operate international flights. Grosseto airport was mainly used for civil use and air taxis, but after further redevelopment, the local authorities are now seeking to open the airport to international flights with a particular attention to Northern Europe and a tender has been launched. NEW CATANIA AIRPORT NOW OPENED

The new Catania airport, which substitutes the old Fontanarossa airport, has been inaugurated by the Italian Transport Minister. The new airport’s entrance is made of glass with magnificent views of Mount Etna. The new airport has 44 check-in desks and 20 gates. 72 airlines operate from and to Catania with 63 international flights and 19 domestic flights.

COMISO AIRPORT INAUGURATED ON 30 APRIL

The brand new airport at Comiso, in the South East of Sicily has been officially inaugurated on 30 April 07. Comiso is now open to commercial flights and will serve this charming part of Sicily full of history and surrounded with natural beauty. Ragusa and Modica, pearls of the Baroque, are nearby and so are the emerald green sea and the Ibli mountains.
