Renowned travel presenter joins Web TV series

Russell Broadcast specialist markettiers4dc is delighted to announce Russell Amerasekera is to join its panel of expert presenters for Holiday ‘07, the interactive travel themed WebTV series aimed at people wanting to know more about holiday destinations.

He will be hosting numerous shows on the Holiday07.tv website which has shows lined up with brands such as the Oman Tourist Board and Airtours over the coming weeks.

An enthused Russell stated “In the past few years the internet has become the undisputed research tool of choice for just about everyone who is planning any sort of travel experience, from a romantic weekend in Paris to an eco cruise to the Galapogos islands. Holiday ‘07 taps in to an increasing need for credible, expert advice but delivered in a fresh, dynamic and entertaining way”.

Russell has a wealth of experience having spent 15 years in the travel industry, two of which were as part of the regular presenting team on ITV’s former flag ship travel programme, ‘Wish You Were Here….?’ . His most recent role was performing in a prime time celebrity reality series for Sky TV called Road Raja where he spent a month filming in India driving taxis, rickshaws and delivery trucks on the congested streets of Mumbai with Julie Goodyear, Caprice, Keith Allen, Dennis Waterman and Tania Strecker!

Russell was the anchor presenter on BBC1’s prime time travel and human interest series ‘Perfect Holiday’. He also presented regularly on BBC1’s Holiday 2003/4 and has recently hosted a daytime series on Channel 4 called ‘Holidaymaker’, aimed at young people who are seeking to enter the travel and leisure industry.

Holiday ‘07, the ongoing WebTV series, has a variety of interactive live shows that are archived on the site for the public to subsequently view on-demand. Further traffic to the shows is generated by coverage secured via relevant websites that pre-promote the series thus making online users further aware of the content. More than twenty websites have participated to date including leading ISPs such as Tiscali, AOL and Lycos, in addition to specialist travel websites.

Recent brands that have signed up to the series are Royal Caribbean International, the Fundacion Ibiza and Formentera, The Malta Tourist Office, Texas Tourism Office and Saga Holidays. Shows take the form of ‘on the couch’ style interviews with expert spokespeople interspersed with relevant travel footage.

Combined with Russell’s travel knowledge and presenting expertise, the WebTV shows are set to continue engaging and inspiring an audience keen for information to help them make their next holiday destination decisions.
