Zap and Zen your way to Alsace this autumn

16th July 2007 Print
iDTGV In the autumn holidaymakers heading for Alsace on the new TGV Est will be able to choose between zenning and zapping! On 2nd October the popular iDTGV service opens on the new line between Paris and the Alsace centres of Strasbourg, Colmar and Mulhouse. Tickets are available now for as little as €19 (including all taxes) if booked in advance.

iDTGV services take over entire trains and provide passengers with very cheap travel and a choice of travelling style: 100% relaxation in the Zen zone, or 100% entertainment in Zap. Two will run between Paris and Strasbourg every day while there will also be iDTGV trains to and from Mulhouse four days a week.

The iDZen carriages are places of peace and quiet where mobile phones are banned, silence is required and passengers can buy a sleep kit for €2 which contains an eye mask, ear plugs and an inflatable pillow. Massages will also be available on some services to help increase the feeling of relaxation.

iDZap carriages offer a whole different experience! DVD players, MP3 players and PSP games consoles can be rented and board games will be available. An iDZap waiter will provide a trolley service of drinks and meals so that serious gamers don’t even have to leave their seats! Alternative refreshment will be provided in the iDZinc bar which, as well as serving food and drinks, will occasionally feature live bands.

Tickets for the iDTGV service can be purchased six months in advance and are available exclusively online (idtgv.com). Passengers in the UK may prefer the English language booking site which is annexed to the main Rail Europe address (raileurope.co.uk/idtgv) which is straight forward and has useful features such as a currency converter and links to a booking page for travel starting in the UK.
