Italy Tourism is back to normal in the southern Italian region of Puglia after the wild fires on the Gargano area last week. Last week the news reported of the fires that occurred in various Mediterranean countries causing disruption, damage and concern.

The Italian southern region of Puglia (Apulia) has been hit by fires in the Gargano area, the so called “spur of the boot”, the small peninsula sticking out into the Adriatic Sea where the famous and very beautiful resorts of Peschici and Vieste are located.

The fires of July 24 caused considerable damage and fear but the region’s political and tourist authorities responded swiftly and effectively to the emergency, together with the local population, to insure that tourists and inhabitants alike were safe and taken care of.

Only 3 of the 30 tourist establishments in the Gargano area have been touched directly by the fire and the situation there is now well under control and getting back to normal, as it is proved by the tourists who are already going back so numerous to enjoy the crystal clear waters and white beaches, the National park and the delightful villages of this most beautiful part of Italy.
