New 'Visit Exmoor' website offers online booking

8th August 2007 Print
Exmoor The new ‘Visit Exmoor’ website, Visit-exmoor.co.uk, contains all the information needed to plan and enjoy a break within this beautiful region of England’s West Country including a dynamic online booking facility for a range of quality graded accommodation.

Exmoor has a huge choice of places to stay to suit all budgets and tastes from elegant country house hotels and coastal hideaways to traditional inns, B&Bs, secluded cottages and camping and caravan sites. Much of the accommodation is pet friendly so the family dog can come too and riding enthusiasts can bring their own horses and ponies taking advantage of the excellent stabling provided. The online booking allows users to search by accommodation type, level of grading, location, date and room configuration; all the accommodation is quality assessed so visitors know what to expect before they arrive.

There is also an easy-to-use search facility helping visitors plan their days taking in a variety of local attractions, events and activities as well as a section on local produce and where to eat by the type of cuisine on offer. Winners of the annual Exmoor Excellence Awards for accommodation and attractions are highlighted helping visitors to make an informed choice during their stay.

Other pages have maps and links to travel providers with details of how to reach Exmoor and get around once visitors have arrived plus sources of further information such as local Tourist Information and National Park Centres.

Two thirds in West Somerset and one third in North Devon, Exmoor’s stunning coastline, tranquil open moors, wooded valleys and pretty villages provide an ideal break away from the crowds. The region has been a great inspiration to artists and writers over the centuries including romantic poets Wordsworth and Coleridge, while the imaginary footsteps of RD Blackmore’s ill-fated heroine Lorna Doone can be retraced and much of Henry Williamson’s Tarka the Otter also took place on Exmoor.

Visitors can choose to simply relax, walk the coast path, fish and take in the beautiful scenery or enjoy an action-packed break with mountain biking, horse riding and watersports. They might decide to take an Exmoor coast or country safari in search of wildlife, visit an animal centre, museum or family attraction or take a ride on a steam railway – but whatever the choice details can be found on the new website which is packed full of things to see and do within both the National Park and surrounding areas.
