In Thailand, Afternoon Tea, or ‘high tea’ as it is also referred too, is a very British occasion. Afternoon tea is traditionally served between the hours of 3 and 5 o’clock in the afternoon and includes a selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones served with clotted cream and jam.

Afternoon Tea is a global phenomenon and is indulged in by many around the world. Here we bring to you two of the best places to take both traditional and contemporary styles of afternoon tea in Bangkok.

Traditional Afternoon Tea

The Peninsula

The Lobby at the Peninsula is a lively meeting place serving afternoon tea, both indoors and outside on the riverfront terrace. Its prime location provides the perfect opportunity to see and be seen as the world glides by and features live music throughout the day.

The Lobby is an ideal place for friends to meet, share the latest news over tea, or for business associates to gather for a quiet meeting, all against the magnificent backdrop of the Chao Phraya River. The ambience is elegant yet casual, offering a certain comfort and unrivaled distinction for which the Lobby areas of The Peninsula hotels are renowned.

The Peninsula will often have themed afternoon teas too. For example ‘Coconut and Banana’ where they take the traditional cakes and add a little something Thai extra! Delicious.

Contemporary Afternoon Tea
