Anguilla receives Crystal Palm Award for excellence

The Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) marked the 10th anniversary of the Crystal Palm Awards of Excellence by paying tribute to the industry organisations and representatives who have made a significant and positive contribution over the past year to the development of Caribbean Tourism in the United Kingdom.

The awards were presented at the annual gala dinner in London on the Saturday evening prior to WTM 2007.

Anguilla Tourist Board in the UK was award the “Caribbean Tourism Board of the Year” for their contribution to tourism based on official statistics from the CTO covering 2004 – 2006 period. Anguilla emerged the undisputable winner of the Crystal Palm Award in the Caribbean Tourist Board category. Through marketing, PR and promotional activities in the UK market with a remarkable growth of 35.8%.

Collecting the award on behalf of the ATB UK were Hon. Donna A Banks, Special Advisor to the Minister of Tourism, Amelia Vanterpool-Banks, Director of Tourism and Carolyn Brown the ATB UK Director.

Carolyn Brown Director ATB UK said, “Anguilla is really making its presences known in the UK market. We have been striving to increase awareness which is a challenge with the competition from the larger and more known Caribbean islands that have direct air access from the UK.

“It is a great honour to have received the Crystal Palm Award for our hard work and also for the smaller islands of the Caribbean who strive to be recognised.

“2008 will see the UK office expanding so we can continue to maintain and build our profile and deliver business back to the island. It is a great honour to represent Anguilla in the UK and we look forward to a very successful 2008.”
