St. Lucia voted ‘World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination’ St. Lucia was celebrating last night after being voted as the ‘World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination’ in the 2007 World Travel Awards, the fifth time this accolade has been bestowed upon the island. St. Lucia has been cited as “the loveliest of all isles” and with the increase in the number of five star romantic properties, such as Discovery at Marigot Bay and Jade Mountain at Anse Chastanet, the appeal is greater than ever before.

The voting campaign reached a total of 167,000 travel professionals worldwide and hailed by the Wall Street Journal as the "Travel industry's equivalent to the Oscars". The World Travel Awards are the most comprehensive and most prestigious awards program in global travel industry today. They were presented at the World Travel Awards Gala ceremony last night (12th December) at Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort & Spa.

St. Lucia has also seen an increase in arrival figures from the UK showing a rise of 7.4% year on year. There has been a notable increase in arrivals from the major Northern counties, particularly Cheshire (34.6%), Lancashire (127.6%) and Merseyside (70.9%), where access to St. Lucia is now even easier with the re-introduction of the direct Manchester to St. Lucia route with Virgin Atlantic.

In St. Lucia this month, phase one of private marina resort The Landings (thelandingsstlucia.com) opened to the public, offering 62 suites along with RockResorts spa, salon, fitness centre, pool, water sports centre and the Beachfront Club Lounge and Restaurant.
