A special welcome for green travellers to Brussels

14th December 2007 Print
From 17-21 December hundreds of visitors to Brussels travelling from London by Eurostar can expect a special welcome at their arrival at Brussels Midi Station from Mrs Evelyne Huytebroeck, Brussels Minister for the Environment and Tourism, in the form of a Brussels Green Pack.

Created by Brussels-based ethical wear designer Marie Cabanac, the Brussels Green Pack will include a number of free gifts and items that will help visitors to discover and enjoy the capital of Europe in a more sustainable and creative way.

It will include a Green Passport to Brussels, highlighting the city’s green attractions and its sustainable development ambitions, a voucher for a vitamin-packed Greeny Mary cocktail drink, valid until 29 February 2008 and redeemable at four of Brussels eco-dynamic labelled hotels (the Plaza Hotel, The Royal Radisson Hotel, the Meridien and the Sheraton Four Points), a voucher for a free guided tour of Brussels valid from 30 May to 1 August 2008, a one day travel ticket for use on the metro, trams and buses with a metro map, a guidebook to Brussels, Pierre Marcolini chocolates, some Max Havelaar Fair Trade tea, and some iris seeds to bring back and sow in the spring.

Since the end of October 2007, the Brussels region has been engaged in the promotion of Brussels through its Brussels 1:51 (brussels151.com) promotional campaign highlighting the shorter 1 hour and 51 minute train journey time to Brussels with the opening of St Pancras International on 14 November.

Minister Evelyne Huytebroeck is committed to promoting rail travel to Brussels as a way of addressing climate change and of encouraging more sustainable tourism to the Belgian capital.
