New website aims to drive tourists to the USA

MyRoadTripUSA.co.uk, an inspirational new interactive ‘road trip builder’ website – featuring an exclusive competition to win a £5,000 fly-drive holiday - will encourage all budding travellers to answer the ‘call of the open road’.

It is to go live in mid-January 2008 and has been developed by the Capital Region USA, in partnership with Hertz and the U.S. Federal Highway Administration.

MyRoadTripUSA.co.uk will create personalised, downloadable road trips featuring the scenic byways of Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC, based on the online visitor’s own special interests and preferences. It will also be possible to order a complimentary Byways Travel Pack which comprises a 2008 Capital Region driving guide, a Maryland Byways Handbook and a set of detailed maps of Virginia and Maryland.

All website visitors taking part in the interactive quiz will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win a superb, top-of-the-range 10-night fly-drive holiday to the Capital Region for two people, in conjunction with North American Travel Service and Hertz, the world’s largest general use car hire company.

The prizewinners will enjoy transatlantic flights with British Airways, an exciting three-night city break in Washington, DC before taking to the byways in their choice of either a classic Mustang convertible or funky Lincoln Navigator 4 x 4, courtesy of Hertz. This free-wheeling fly-drive trip also includes accommodation in some of Maryland and Virginia’s most prestigious hotels, including the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Keswick Hall in Charlottesville and Kingsmill Resort & Spa in Williamsburg.

The competition will run from January to end-March 2008, although MyRoadTripUSA will continue to offer and enhance the ‘road trip builder’ as an ongoing service to visitors beyond the competition period.

Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC, which form the Capital Region USA, boast some of the most alluring America’s Byways, including the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Skyline Drive.
