5th March 2008 Print
Responsible travel from AA publishing Green Rooms is the first in an ethical travel series entitled New Leaf, published by AA Publishing and on sale from 31st March, 2008. The book provides an independent insight into over 100 eco-friendly and ethical places to stay around the world, from solar-powered yurt camps to inner-city eco-chic hotels.

Fabulously luxuriant getaways are included but equally stunning budget options are also covered and each establishment has been chosen not only for its environmental efforts but also its effect upon, and interaction with, the society around it.

Written by award-winning journalists and travel writers, all of the contributors share a passion for eco-friendly travel and strive to prove that responsible travel is not only beneficial to the environment but also a fantastic way to see the world.

While it’s not hard to sell jungle tree houses, cottage retreats and beach-side huts, Green Rooms doesn’t lose sight of the sticky issues surrounding modern travel. Throughout the book key dilemmas are raised and discussed without dictating a right or wrong standpoint.

The guide also never ignores that it’s dealing with people’s free time and everyone wants to make the most of it. As a result the book covers a wide variety of unforgettable responsible travel experiences, from conserving wildlife in South Africa or trekking the Inca Trail with fairly-paid sherpas, to travelling overland from London to Morocco instead of flying.

Everyone is working hard to make a difference these days; recycling in the office and the home, switching to energy saving options and buying more fair trade products, but when it comes to travelling responsibly it’s hard to know where to start. There’s little point disputing whether or not people should travel; people want to travel, so it’s time to shed light on how to go about it in a ‘green’ and realistic way that appeals to everyone and Green Rooms tries to answer these questions.

Publisher David Watchus comments: "While there is mounting pressure to travel in a more environmentally-friendly way, the solutions are not always obvious. These New Leaf titles are more about ‘doing what you want to do, only doing it in a way that makes your environmental impact lower".

Green Rooms is due to be published on 31 March 2008, priced at £14.99.
